Digital Citizenship is an all inclusive concept for those with a certain level of access. The ethical component is a level of awareness. Consciousness versus being controlled subconsciously.

The Internet is part of the daily lives of Digital Citizens. These rules help us communicate effectively with a certain level of access and consciousness.
Following conventions to build the online community makes us Digital Citizens. There are conceptual and digital requirements. Ethics and rules are conceptual. Access and accounts are virtual.
Ethics consists of the fundamental beliefs of right and wrong in a society. Netiquette rules are the ethical online conventions we follow. The social code of good people.
Digital Citizenship Definition
A Digital Citizen is a person who uses electronics effectively in their daily lives. We use devices to communicate, organize, and assist ourselves.
Among other things these devices include:
- Personal Computers (PC’s)
- Connected Cars
Establishing ethics is the basis of the rules. This civilizes us. Netiquette rules establish social standards for electronic communication.
The conventions organize us into a unified civilization. They facilitate effective communication. We agree on the conventions of it.
Given that ethics and conventions are conceptual, internet ethics is consciousness. The knowledge of right and wrong with conventions for doing the right thing.
Knowledge of right and wrong comes from interaction with good people, education, and technical training. Good people have to help each other. Education teaches us principles. Technical training shows us how to use the internet.
We are Digital Citizens first. There is nothing related to causes or action in being an inhabit of the Internet. It is merely an existence, an online image.
The world is becoming digital. Paper documents are disappearing. Electronics are ruling the daily lives of everyone in industrialized nations.
The internet is organizing, educating, and entertaining. It is a brave new world.
Recognition as a part of this society requires ethics online and off. Troll activity is not good digital citizenship. It does not disqualify a person either.
The world is full of people who use Information Technology (IT) with proper netiquette. We have an understanding of right and wrong consciously applied.
Citizen Journalists are Digital Citizens who report real time information to support a cause. Truth and justice are at the heart of Digital Citizens’ journals.
What is a Citizen Journalist?
A Citizen Journalist is person who disseminates information regarding a noteworthy event without expectation of payment or professional advancement. Action results from the information spread. It is more than just awareness.
An opinion with a call to action. Journalism is not something that just happens. It takes an audience.
A journal is an account of events. These events are news to the people who become aware of them from others. Participate in our online culture by supporting a cause for truth and justice.
